TERRIBLES TROPIQUES

Salt Water spent few weeks in Brazil last winter. Here is a short story on our trip back to the ocean.

The air was warm and salty, the wind was coming from the land. In the horizon, only the Atlantic see as far as you eyes can see. The sky was turning to gold as the day was declining and the sun plunging into the sea.
Time was just enough to jump into the water and enjoy a couple of last waves. The long rights were breaking along the rocky coastline offering the two of us the same joy as our first wave ever.

It was a last minute decision to escape France and the endless winter to get back on the road. A necessary act to recover our complete freedom, to take time to live simply and re-centering us to what is really important. What a best way than getting lost in a totally unkown country and culture? Sometimes it's when you are lost that you can really focus on what is important.

That night, what struck me most was simply silence. We were only surounded by the sound of the waves breaking. It seemed such a long time since I hadn't fell this sensation of being at the right place, at the right time. All the city frenesy had disappeared for the best. The simplest moment are always those you remember for a long time. When you quite your routine to go back to something simpler.

This trip was like a complete rebirth. After months loosing touch with salt water, we were now just in perfect harmony with what we wanted interiorly. Waking up at dawn and surfing till the end of day, cruising along the coast with our boards an camera to fully live the moment. The dusty coastline roads took us farer than we had expected. From one empty peak to another, the metamorphose was operating in our minds. All these colours, the smells of the spices, the smiles, this singing language... We had to let go to enjoy every single moment of this journey...
