MALLORCA

The first thing to explain about surfing in Mallorca is that we have wind-swell based waves. The island wasn’t traditionally known for surfing and the community only really started in the late ‘80s with a handful of people.

It’s an effort to be a surfer here. Consistency isn’t high so it requires flexibility and some dedication. Nonetheless, you can surf around 250 days of the year and if you have the patience, you’ll find waves on three sides of the island (South West, East and North East).

Once you find those waves, the quality of the surf is good and you’ll also be surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes. Plus it never gets too cold, in winter you can happily get by with a 4-3 wetsuit.

These pictures were taken on a meandering summer road trip through the countryside and villages, ending up in the NE of the island at a popular surf spot.
