EARLY BIRDS

There is something special about driving through the forest of Les Landes before the sun sets. Everything is so quiet, and if you stop, you can hear the soft and discreet sounds of the birds.

Walking to the top of the dune and checking the empty beach, with nobody around is also one of the reasons I like to come here early. It’s being a while since I started going to less frequented places where you need to walk across the forest and the dunes to reach to the spot. The reward… being with a few friends on an early morning surfing empty waves… you know what I’m talking about.

Last week was more of the same. We had to wake up at 4am to be in the place before the sun appeared. Everything looked good, but when we arrived to the sea we noticed the swell had dropped drastically. Even though we had enough time for a surf and a coffee (by far two of my favourite things in life) before going to work.
