IT WILL BE ALL RIGHT

I'm a big fan of Zoe's surfing. She's usually in Hawaii or traveling on the QS when that's happening, so I've never really had a chance to shoot with her. I told her that if she sent me clips I'd put something together for her. And that's how it went. Every so often I'd get an email with a link to download another batch of clips until we had enough to put this together.

Surfing and international travel have always gone hand in hand. From the culturally iconic 60’s surf film The Endless Summer to the current WSL world tour, the two appear intrinsically linked. This film is instead a celebration of staying put, an ode to home.

OUTSIDE

Grant is one of my favorite surfers and people I've had the opportunity to work with. His skills on a surfboard, skateboard, and with a planer are next level. His ability to surf dredging Newport barrels and playful longboard waves all on boards he made himself is something I'll never get over shooting.

SHUT IN

I teamed up with Troy Elmore with support from Vans to put together this part and I’m so happy with how it came out. Our goal with this part was to show more aspects to Troy’s surfing. Some turns some barrels. Some frontside some backside. Some symmetrical some asymmetrical. You get the idea.

7BLADES

There was a time when surfboard brands had names that were either a shaper’s name, a location, or had a post-hippie tinge, like Serenity or Morning Star, or even Water Cooled, which is where I met a young Greg Brown way, way back when he was a grom. I can’t remember the exact moment I saw ROAR as a thing other than a noise jets and lions made. ROAR Surfboards instantly got my attention. Agressive logos — on great boards made by one of the, by then, most charismatic guys surfing at the time, in that same Greg Brown. Just as everyone was getting used to it…ROAR suddenly became GASH, and my first thought was WTF. Before WTF was even a thing. I knew behind everything was a polar opposite to Greg - in Simon Buttonshaw.

CYAN

Directed by Heitor Vallim and produced by Seventy Surfboards, the short film Cyan - A Blue Journey brings experienced longboarder Alexandre Wolthers to action in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia. Accustomed to dropping the waves with classic boards, the film presents a more progressive side of the Santos free surfer, but without losing the posture and style. The soundtrack was made especially for the film with elements of rock, fusion jazz mixed with sounds of natives of Mentawai.

CHARLOTTE

Here is our new minute, presenting a twin-fin we named Charlotte. Vincent (the shaper of Surfin Estate), wanted to make few changes on the model so he was going back on this board to feel her behaviour. Here was he thought about it : "The board is already sharp and really fast, but I think we can still add some volume by flattening a bit more the deck and enhance the bevel rail. I would also increase a tiny bit the lift to have more confort on the turns... Fins positionning, rails, rocker everyting sounds good to me!"
