BEHIND THE LENS: MITCH POPE

We love to receive work from young promising photographers. Mitch Pope is clearly one them. No long sentences, no complicated words to describe his photography. We asked him to introduce it himself.

“I'm 17, fresh out of high-school, and more than ready to see where a camera can take me. I started surfing when I was 11 and by the time I was 14 I brought the camera into it. I'd always been super passionate about surfing and then shooting the subject opened up a whole new world, where I could show people the way I see the world.

I've been lucky enough to take a trip to the North Shore and a few trips up the east coast which opened my eyes up to travel, I realise now that's all I really want to do for the rest of my life. It's been hard to juggle school life with photography, as well as playing in a band and working for the last few years, but now I feel a huge weight off my shoulders and I couldn't be more excited to see what comes next. The thing that keeps me the most passionate is the beauty and wonders of the ocean, just how raw and powerful the ocean can be, and to be apart of it is something very special, and it always keeps me wanting more, again and again. I also just love being creative, and bringing as much of my own creativity as I can into every session, it's better to be unique.”
