REMEMBER NATURE

“There’s a certain feeling to surf during hell rain, thunder and lightning. As terrifying as it can be it also gives you a sensation of being calm and alive at the same time. Embraced by the elements and in the hands of nature. There’s nothing better.” - Raskal 2020’

Howling offshore, rain that looks and feels like the end of the world, thunders & lighting so quiet and loud at the same time and everything i can see are smiling faces from a bunch of good friends surfing and shooting in the water!

The fact of me freaking out is nothing special in this occasion! It’s always been a dream of me to shoot some surf in perfect waves and pouring rain! It gives me chills when i stand in front of such a destructive and terrifying scenery! You’re just completely in the hands of mother nature no matter if you surf or shoot!

From a photographers perspective:

So we were literally just enjoying the after surf nasi-goreng in some warung in front of the spot with everyone who joined us to escape the busy life of canggu. In Indo rain & clouds are usually evolving from behind so you can’t really tell..hahaha! Suddenly the wind started to change direction and the rain came slowly in!

The next moment i stood soaking wet in full on rain trying to capture the very best surf day i’ve seen in a good while! I didn’t think of shooting a anymore this day so i had to run (for my life - haha), clear memory cards, put a zoom and run back! No one has seen that i slipped down the stairs, lucky me)!

After 200 photos in 5 Minutes i realised that my camera won’t survive a fucking storm. So i ran again to pick up my housing and do a little bay watch run on the beach! In the water suddenly everything was quiet and filled everyone with pure joy! It was also super scary because of all the lightings which hit the region every two seconds! As we’re super responsible for our lives filipe neto and me went out of the water and had a (safe) bintang before we decided to swim out again! It was just too good! I was lucky enough to have my good friend Crille Rask from Sweden in the water! I ended up with a few really nice photos and a moment of my life i will never forget!
